nfl teams listThe National Football League (NFL) was founded on August 20, 1920 as the American Professional Football Association (APFA) and is currently comprised of 32 NFL teams across the United States. In 1966. the league approved a merger with the American Football League (AFL), which was finalized in 1970. The combination of the two leagues set the stage for the most gifted football players in the world and allowed the NFL to expand to all markets across the country.

The 32 NFL teams are grouped into two conferences: the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Each conference is comprised of four divisions, which are determined mostly by geographical location.
