pokemon cities and townsIn total, there are 95 Pokemon cities and towns that can be explored in the seven regions of the core Pokemon series. In order of their appearance in the Pokemon series, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, and Alola are the regions in which all the Pokemon cities and towns below reside in. Each region plays as the setting of at least two games in the generation in which it was established. The majority of Pokemon cities and towns have resident Gym Leaders that can be battled in order to earn various badges to help players progress in the game. Other point of interest include hotels, shopping malls, Rival headquarters, and many more different landmarks.

The list below displays each of the 95 Pokemon cities and towns along with their corresponding region, places of interest, and the area’s local Gym Leader, if there is one.


1Celadon City

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Erika is the City’s Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Celadon Department Store, Celadon Condominiums, the Game Corner, Team Rocket’s hideout, and Celadon Hotel.

2Cerulean City

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Misty is Cerulean City’s Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Bike Shop, Cerulean Cave, Dontae and Melanie’s house, and the house that Team Rocket burglarized.

3Cinnabar Island

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Blaine is the local Gym Leader who resides in Cinnabar Island.
  • Places of interest include the Pokemon Mansion, Pokemon Lab, and the volcano.

4Fuchsia City

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Koga is the city’s Gym Leader, but his daughter, Janine, takes over for him in Generations II and IV.
  • Places of interest include the Safari Zone and Pokemon Zoo.

5Lavender Town

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Lavender Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the haunted Pokemon Tower, Kanto Radio Tower, Lavender Volunteer Pokemon House, and the House of Memories.

6Pallet Town

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Pallet Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Professor Oak’s lab and the homes of both the player and in-game rival.

7Pewter City

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Brock is the resident Gym Leader, the first one to be encountered.
  • The only place of interested includes the Museum of Science.

8Saffron City

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Saffron City’s Gym Leader is Sabrina.
  • Places of interest include the Fighting Dojo, Silph Co.’s Headquarters, the Magent Train Station, Mr. Psychic’s house, Copycat’s house, and the Pokemon Trainer Fan Club house.

9Vermilion City

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Lt. Surge is the local Gym Leader
  • Places of interest include the Harbor, Pokemon Fan Club House, and the construction site that serves varying purposes in different generations of the core Pokemon series.

10Viridian City

  • Located in the Kanto region.
  • Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, is the local Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Pokemon Academy and Trainer House.

11Azalea Town

  • Located in the Johto region.
  • Bugsy is the local Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the charcoal kiln, Kurt’s house, and Slowpoke Well.

12Blackthorn City

  • Located in the Johto region.
  • Clair is the local Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Dragon’s Den and Ice Path.

13Cherrygrove City

  • Located in the Johto region.
  • Cherrygrove City is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the off-shore island and the city tour guide that helps players navigate around the city.

14Cianwood City

  • Located in the Johto region.
  • Chuck is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Kirk’s house, the Poke Seer, Cianwood City Pharmacy, and the photo studio.

15Ecruteak City

  • Located in the Johto region.
  • Morty is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Dance Theater, the Burned Tower, Bellchime Tower, Bell Tower, and the barrier station to Bell Tower.

16Goldenrod City

  • Located in the Johto region.
  • Whitney is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include a bike shop, Goldenrod Department Store, Game Corner, the Radio Tower, Magnet Train Station, Global Terminal, Bill’s house, and the Goldenrod Tunnel.

17Mahogany Town

  • Pryce is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Team Rocket’s Headquarters and a store in the heart of the town called Just a Souvenir Shop that sells Pokemon training supplies.

18New Bark Town

  • Located in the Johto region.
  • New Bark Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Professor Elm’s lab, the player’s house, and certain generations have a friend’s house as well.

19Olivine City

  • Located in the Johto region.
  • Jasmine is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Glitter Lighthouse, Olivine Port, and Olivine Cafe.

20Violet City

  • Located in the Johto region.
  • Falkner is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Pokemon School and Sprout Tower.

21Dewford Town

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Brawly is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Dewford Hall, which is also referred to as “everyone’s information exchange” because trendy words and phrases travel quickly by word of mouth.

22Ever Grande City

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • There is no resident Gym Leader, but Ever Grande City the home of the Elite Four.
  • Places of interest include Victory Road, the Pokemon League, and the Pokemon Hall of Fame.

23Fallarbor Town

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Fallarbor Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Contest Hall, the Battle Tent, and Professor Cozmo’s house.

24Fortree City

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Winona is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the desk and chair shop and the Secret Base Guild, which replaces the desk and chair shop in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby.

25Lavaridge Town

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Flannery is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Pokemon Herb Shop and the Hot Springs.

26Littleroot Town

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Littleroot Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader, but is the home of Professor Birch.
  • Places of interest include Professor Birch’s lab and the player’s house. This is the Pokemon town that players start their journey in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, and Emerald.

27Lilycove City

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Lilycove City is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader, but has a lot of different attractions.
  • Places of interest include Contest Hall, Cove Lily Motel, Lilycove Museum, the city department store, Lilycove City Harbor, and a Pokemon trainer fan clubhouse.

28Mauville City

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Wattson is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the game corner, Rydel’s Cycles,food court, Crooner’s Cafe, Narcissus Mirro Shop, Battle Institute, Ritzy Ribbon Retail, PokeMilage Center, Pokemon Reflexology Services, TV Mauville, and Mauville Hills.

29Mossdeep City

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Tate and Lizza are the resident Gym Leaders.
  • Places of interest include the Space Center, Steven’s house, game corner, the Backdoor house, and Pokeblock enthusiast’s house.

30Oldale Town

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Oldale Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the tracking scientist and Poke Mart representative, who provides players with a free potion in the game.

31Pacifidlog Town

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Pacifidlog Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Mirage Island man, who produces a random number and if it matches the personality value of any Pokemon in the current party of the player, the player is able to explore Mirage Island.

32Petalburg City

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Norman is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Wally’s house, who is the rival to the player in Pokemon Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald.

33Rustboro City

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Roxanne is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Devon Corporation, Cutter’s house, Elyssa’s house, Walda’s house, and the Pokemon trainer’s school.

34Slateport City

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Slateport City is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Slateport market, various shops, Oceanic Museum, Stern’s Shipyard, Slateport Harbor, Contest Hall, the battle tent, the beach, and Pokemon Fan Club headquarters.

35Sootopolis City

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Wallace is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include the Cave of Origin, where legendary Pokemon reside.

36Verdanturf Town

  • Located in the Hoenn region.
  • Verdanturf Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Contest Hall, battle tent, and Wanda’s house.

37Canalave City

  • Located in the Sinnoh region.
  • Byron is the resident Gym Leader.
  • Places of interest include Canalve Library, Harbor Inn, and Sailor Eldritch’s house.

38Celestic Town

  • Places of interest include Snowpoint Temple and the Northeast house, where trendy phrases in the game are learned.

47Solaceon Town

48Sunyshore City

63Nacrene City

64Nimbasa City

65Nuvema Town

  • Located in the Unova region.
  • Nuvema Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader, but is home to Professor Juniper.
  • Nuvema Town is where players start their journeys in Pokemon Black and White.

66Opelucid City

  • Located in the Unova region.
  • Drayden is the resident Gym Leader in Pokemon Black; Iris is the resident Gym Leader in Pokemon White.

67Striaton City

  • The resident Gym Leader is determined by whichever starter Pokemon the player chooses. If Snivy is selected, the player will battle Chili. If Oshawott is selected, the player will battle Cilan. If Tepig is selected, the player will battle Cress.
  • Places of interest include Fennel and Amanita’s house, Striaton Restaurant, and the garden.

68Undella Town

  • Located in the Unova region.
  • Undella Town is one of the few Pokemon cities and towns without a resident Gym Leader, but Cynthia, the Sinnoh League Champion, can be found here during the Spring and Summer.
  • Places of interest include the Riches’ villa, Caitlin’s villa, and the Marine Tube.

69Virbank City

  • There are no real places of interest in this village due to the area being destroyed by a legendary Pokemon named Tapu.
